Yasser Seirawan wrote in the introduction of “Endings” that studying endings can be a tedious task even for the most determined and enthusiastic players. However, if you think that is bad, imagine how dull a book about visualization can be, like this one. “Chess Visualization for the Innocent Souls” is not for the faint-hearted and requires a willingness to explore the unknown.
If you are new to Pardi’s books, it is recommended that you first check out “Fundamental Chess Patterns.” If you already have some experience, you should look inside before buying this book. It is not a leisure book to simply read, but it contains a series of exercises that must be done in sequence.
The book challenges you to visualize blindfolded the path of a Knight from b2 to check the opponent’s King in d4 without passing through squares where the Knight could be captured. Can you also replay a game you just played without looking at your scoresheet? Candidate Masters can do it immediately, experts can do it slowly, most intermediate players struggle, and novices cannot see anything.
If you can endure the exercises, this book could help you improve your blindfold visualization. But if visualization doesn’t appeal to you, you can check out more user-friendly chess handbooks at scacchi.vecchilibri.eu/biblioteca/books.htm.
Rodolfo Pardi, a librarian, instructor, and arbiter of the Italian Chess Federation, recommends clicking “look inside” to preview the usual 10% made available by Amazon and to verify that you will understand the material before purchasing.

I would never recommend this book to anybody that I would consider a beginner, and maybe not even a “casual” player (depending on the definition).
